Holiday Weekend

It was so nice to be able to go home for a long weekend after my first week at work. It was a busy weekend, like every weekend at home, and it didn't last very long. Since, I won't be home very much this summer, I tried to pack all of my summer activities into one weekend home.

As always, when I'm home there is work to be done. With all the crops in the ground, now we are feeding them and watching them grow! =] Love the life of the farm kids!

I felt like a tourist in my home town this weekend! I had a lot of firsts, and it was great to explore new things. It was also good practice for my tourist status I will have all summer! Friday night, I was able to tag along with my sister and her husband and went to the drive-in movies for the first time. I thought it was so cool! I felt like I was in the movie "Cars". Unfortunately, I slept through both movies that we watched. It was still a lot of fun, even if I missed the movies.

Then, I was able to spend some time with Morgan. He had a friend's wedding to attend at a local tourist attraction, Mad River Mountain. I have lived in this town my entire life and have never been to the mountain. They had the ski lift on and I was able to ride it up. It was really cool to see the view of the valley from the top of the hill. It was a very fun experience.

Like always, I was sick while I was home. I head a bad head cold, so I wasn't feeling 100%, but it was really fun and nice to spend time with Morgan.

Finally, to top off my weekend, we had a fire to burn the brush pile. It was nice to have my sisters and their families out for some good summer-night fun.

I am so blessed to have such a great support system at home. They are always willing to rearrange their busy schedules in order to spend time with me and enjoy my company. I couldn't ask for a better family to call mine!

I Have Arrived

Well, I made it. I'm here in Kentucky and I can't wait until this first week is over! Nothing but labels on envelopes, stamps on envelopes, more labels on envelopes and stuffing the envelopes with letters. Can you say carpal tunnel? I have a new found respect for those that work in the postal service.

I have met some amazing people this week and I am very excited to see spend the summer with them. My first travels will be in Kentucky. I will be traveling with others for continued training and shadowing while in Kentucky. I still don't know where exactly my next destination will be, but I am hoping to make it to Texas. I will fight for it (my boss told me I could)! I have always dreamed of going to Texas and I am willing to do anything to get that opportunity! For now, I will play nice and see what happens.

It is really different being away from home during the summer months. Of course, I miss being at home and I miss my family (especially Reba), but I can't wait for this adventure to continue and see what all is in store!

Packing Up

I'm counting my days... Here at home at least. I am very anxious, but very excited, about the summer I have ahead of me. I have never spent an entire summer away from home, or even a week of my summer away from little Logan County. I have enjoyed every second of these two weeks that I have had at home, but it is time to begin my summer adventure! I have no idea what my summer adventure has in store for me, but I know that I can't wait to get started and discover new places.

Today, I cleaned my truck out and washed it so it would be all nice and shiny for my trip south! Reba said she was going to be helpful, but it turned into a game for her.

Although it will be difficult to be away from home and loved ones this summer, I am very excited to learn new things and travel to new places. Wish me luck as I begin this journey next week!
