Wednesdays

So I spent last week in Missouri, and it was amazing. I was welcomed and treated so well by everyone that I met. Until Wednesday....

This is me at the beginning of the week (in my new glasses), but I was not smiling at the end of my week.

Wednesdays always seem to be my breakdown day. I used to make fun of my sister for her Thursdays. Those used to be ugly at home. My Wednesdays on the road always end up ugly. Usually in tears, on the phone with Momma and desperately wanting to be at home where she can calm me down.

Well my Wednesday in Missouri was no different. I had a wonderful morning, I was killing my numbers for the week, and was looking forward to exceeding my goal for the week. Until I met Mr. Grumpy-Gills. I have had some rude encounters, but none ever like this. I couldn't get to my car fast enough to let the tears roll!

Other than that I had an absolute amazing week in Missouri. I also learned a lot, too. In one area I could turn around in a circle and see five different crop fields: corn, soybeans, wheat, rice and cotton. Where else in the world can you see that? I don't know, but it was really neat to see how diverse their agriculture was.

I also saw where the Mississippi and the Ohio river meet. That was really neat to see. I have loved the sights I have seen this summer and can't wait to see more!

Vacation

Have you ever spent a week away from home with the greatest group of people, that isn't your own family? Did they welcome you as one of their own? That is exactly what my Summer 2013 vacation consisted of.

Longshore Family Vacation - Outerbanks, North Carolina: the most fun I've had in a very long time!

Blessed to spend a week with my best friend and his wonderful family! I had many new experiences and lots of good laughs!

The most exciting part of vacation was Atlantic Deep Sea Fishing with Morgan.

I also really enjoyed traveling with these beauties! :) Morgan and I rode with his sister and her family! We had a blast!

Most of all it was really nice to spend some much needed time with Morgan. It's tough being away from home for the summer, but being able to make memories that will last a lifetime makes it a little easier.

Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your vacation and making me feel welcome!

I have been doing a lot of traveling this summer, and it has made my last summer as a college student fly by. I can't believe that July is half-over and school will be starting again soon. I am so thankful to have been able to have these experiences, but one thing is for sure; I'm ready to be home with my family in my hometown for good!

Lessons

After having some time away from Nebraska, I have decided it wasn't a bad trip. We had our differences at the beginning of the week, but looking back I really did enjoy my time there. I saw some amazing scenery and met some great people.

This picture shows how the farming is done a little differently than what I am used to. I learned some new things about their practice of agriculture.

And some amazing country side....

But by far, my favorite part of the trip...
The Case IH Grand Island plant! I just wish I had time to go inside. This is the plant where both Case IH and New Holland combines are manufactured. How cool? I didn't have time to tour the plant, but I did drive around the plant to scope it out.

A lot of people say that it is the southern hospitality that we all love and enjoy, but I disagree. Through my travels so far, I have loved Nebraska! I don't think it makes a difference where someone lives, it's the way they were raised and the morals that were instilled in them. And what I love, it always seems to be those that live or work on or are around agriculture. Many life lessons come from the farm and I have had the pleasure of interacting with these folks!

I loved my trip and I hope I get the opportunity to go back soon!
