I Miss My Truck

Wow, what a day I had yesterday. Through all of my travels so far, I have never once felt unsafe. Except for yesterday, when I managed to get my rental car stuck in about four foot of mud. That's not so bad, but I had no cell phone service and had no clue where I was.
I usually have a pretty good sense of direction, but I was following my GPS through a bunch of gravel and dirt roads. A rare occasion of rain occurred in this area Sunday night which caused some mud throughout the area. So, when I got stuck in the mud my first reaction was pure fear because I had no idea where I was or how to direct someone to my location. The fear continued to set in as I realized that I had no cell phone service.
This is all I could see for miles and miles.

Long story short, the local sheriff was unable to locate me, but a local farmer and his son came to my rescue. About three hours later, I was safe on sold ground and on my way.
The car is fine with no damage, just a good layer of mud, on the car and myself.

Through this experience I gained the confidence that I know how to handle a situation similar to this. I'm also counting my blessings today. I am blessed that I have a cell phone, was able to find cell service and had the great advice from the best parents ever to know how important it is to have supplies in the car with me.
Dad has been telling me through my travels that not all the farmers are mean and angry like they are on the phone, and how I am thankful they aren't. I am forever great full for the kindness that was shown to my by a Dawson County resident and the sheriff.
